Nope, I'm not over reacting at all. As a musician I feel a =

The current Burger King television commercial is a hideous affront to =
=3D
all jazz lovers. All music lovers should boycott Burger King until that =
=3D
horrible abomination is taken off the air.
I refer to the 30 second spot where some total idiot who thinks she s a =
=3D
jazz singer attempts to scat sing her way through the "special orders =
=3D
don t upset us - have it your way" jingle. She is horrendously out of =
=3D
tune, has a terrible voice better left unheard, and has absolutely no =
=3D
clue as to the art of jazz improvisation, much less, scat singing. I =3D
especially cringe when she relapses into the lower register and goes =3D
into kind of a folk-singer s nanny-goat substitute for vibrato.
I suspect the ad agency responsible for this aural excrement has a =3D
distinct disdain for music. I m reminded also of the inane "classical =
=3D
music is boring" featuring a cellist a few months ago. The person =3D
responsible for the ad is a total musical illiterate or really hates the =
=3D
art by putting such crap on the air.
Please circulate this to as many music lovers as possible.

I guess you are really mad about that ad !!
I didn't think it was so bad at all personally. I kind of enjoy it =
actually.
It's fun, in good spirits, and delivers a good message using the old =
Burger
King jingle.
It is entertaining, not out of tune, and she scatted decently given the =
time
frame and the application, (TV commercial). I think she did an =
exceptional
job, made it enjoyable for the TV audience, kept it "in", and =
wailed=20
on it. I
don't think it has to be "out" to be good!!! Quite the =
opposite!=20
Fun, jazzy,
and a good time at Burger King was the message! I guess you don't get =
many
jingle dates!
That's it, take it at face value, and try to enjoy things a little more, =
will
ya? Don't be so harsh, doggonit !

Subject: No Moon At All
Greetings All
I'm Marco, I'm writing from the UK and this is my first=20
"contribution"
to the discussion.
I have been on the list for a few months now. The list is great: =
thanks.
I have learned a lot but must admit that although I have been =
playing
the classical guitar for many years, I am new to many concepts about
harmony and I find it difficult to follow some of the topics you =
have
been discussing since I joined the group. Can someone explain what a
plagal cadence is ???
I have "worked out" a chord progression I quite like of =
"No Moon=20
At
All". The first part of the tune that has a nice sounding =
descending
bass line. However, can someone help me with the second part of the =
tune
(the bridge and end) ? what chord progression would you play instead =
of
the basic chords ?
The first part goes like this:
Dmin6 |A7/Db |Co |Emin7/B |
Em7b5/Bb |Cbm7b5/A A7#5| 1.
Dmin6 F7 |Bb7 A7 |
2.
Dmin6 |Dmin6 |
This is the part I would like help with
D7 | ./. |G7 | ./. |
|C7 | ./. |FM7 BbM7 |Em7b5 Eb7 =
|
|Dmin6 | ./. | ./. |
Could anybody give me any alternative chord progression for this =
second
section ?
I hope this is not asking too much but I would love any information =
on
how to approach this tune, what key centres, etc=05 I really like =
this
tune and this is my first attempt to concentrate on a song to work
something out. It might not sound like it from the many questions I =
am
asking but I have spent a lot of time on it and I find it difficult =
to
progress any further.
Thanks for your help.
