Covering several things here:
1) Does anyone have experience in getting midi files (.mid) to play on a
Yamaha Disclavier? This may be too far "off topic" for this list, so please
email me privately.
My piano instructor has several files on his IBM computer that he wants me
to be able to play on the Disclavier (acoustic Yamaha piano with midi and
electronics added on). We have been having a difficult time getting the
Yamaha to recognize the disks or files. Any ideas?
When I have had instructors record lessons directly on my Disclavier, it's
been quite helpful and has been a good learning/teaching tool.
2) I wonder if anyone has found any instructional tools available for the
Disclavier tailored for jazz?
3) I am also interested in finding a good jazz player who will record some
instructional tracks for me to use with my Disclavier... presumably, the
player will have access to a Disclavier and mail me the disk(s) in exchange
for a fee. Please email me if there is any interest.
4) Also: wondering if anyone has an opinion on Hanon's Virtuoso Piano
book... 60 exercises designed for strength and technique. I have been
working with the first 5 or 6 exercises for the last two months and have
noticed improvement in both hands (especially fingers 4 and 5).
5) What is the lowest "street price" for Band in a Box (IBM)? Is there an
education (college student) version or discount? Can things written in BIAB
be played on the Disclavier somehow?? Can the Disclavier be hooked via its
midi cables to BIAB as an input device?
Thank you in advance!
