I'd like to suggest a few things: first, if one is going to send documents can
we use either plain text format which *everyone* can use, or PDF which is
portable? I, for example, cannot deal with Word files. I don't have a PC
handy, and the ones I can use don't have Word on them. I have a 150K mail
message that's completely useless to me. Other people have word processors
that can't read Word files too, I bet.

Which leads to my second point: I think it would be better, if Reed agrees, if
large documents like these were put on the WWW site and a URL mailed to
the list instead of the whole document. I don't pay for my mail by the
message, or my net connection by the minute, but a lot of people do, and it's
a mite rude to suddenly dump a large file into their mailbox, especially if
they cannot read it.

I apologize for the lack of musical content here. I won't participate in an
extended discussion of this *on the list*, but will abide by Reed's decision,
since he runs the list.
