Joey,

I've tried both the Aebersold and Baker ear-training sets and I prefer
software more. After a while with tapes and CDs you start to memorize
the exercises instead of really listening. They would be nice to use in
the car, but you can't check your answers. I've tried a bunch of
software out and the best I've found is called Earobics. They have a
free demo at http://www.cope.dk It's really great. It tests intervals,
chords, inversions, scales, melodic dictation and rhythmic dictation. The
coming version should have harmonic progressions, too. The current
version has a few misspellings though (the authors are Dutch). Frygian?

Good luck,

Andrew
