I know in the Real Book there is a pickup 8th note middle C right before
the A, and Bird plays it that way on Clef MG C-157, 1953. I know it
starts with a m3 in the Omnibook, though.
I guess this discrepency illustrates the limitations of learning
intervals using these mnemonic devices. As I said, Kodaly solfege is
better in many ways, but I'm not sure how it can be applied to jazz.
