constructing bass lines

Hello everyone, I'm new to jazz as I am to this message list.
Please excuse me if this thread has been posted before, but I was
wondering what is the most common way to construct interesting bass
lines? How can you incorporate walking baslines with common jazz
progressions like the ii V I etc. ??
