Two saxophone mailing lists already exist. Neither list is very
active, and both lists could do with some extra discussion topics, and
a bit more life.

The lists really should be combined, since often messages are posted
to both lists, and subscribing, unsubscribing from the manual list
takes a couple of days.

Greetings from the List Keeper. I appologize about not being an
active respondant to the list discusions. Because we still do not
have Listserv I usually spend my time subscribing and
unsubscribing people from the list, although I do read the list
mail and very much enjoy the information I have recently seen.

I do not like seeing the list cluttered with list management requests but know it is sometimes
necesary.
While I am writing I will tell you about myself. I am
an assistant prof. of music at Amarillo College (Amarillo, Tx). I
was hired as the woodwinds teacher but also teach jazz improv,
community band / jazz band, theory, music appreciation, and
recently began teaching introduction to computer music
applications. I am ABD toward a PhD in Music Ed with a jazz
studies emphasis at North Texas, which is why I have a UNT
saxophone list. With my dissertation work, teaching load, new
baby due in March, gigs, practice, and other stuff I sometimes do
not check or manage the list on a daily basis. I have also had
problems with my telnet connection to UNT to add or delete names
to or from the list. This should now be resolved and I promise to
be a better keeper. Requests will usually take 2 or 3 days rather
than minutes like ListServ run lists (like the clarinet list). We
have been promised to have such capabilities so progress may be
on its way. Keep up the excellent articles, information, etc.
