Could you elaborate on your concept of melodic analysis.
It is interesting that you spend so much time reworking harmony in this
discussion group. For a while I thought you had no interest at all in
melody. Now this thread is discussing some concepts of melodic material as
it relates to harmony and you see melody as being somehow separate.

Melodies do revolve around keys. So does harmony and chords. Chords are
derived from keys. Basic theory. Both can be indicators. I perceive harmony
as linear event, not as a vertical back dropping to something else.
