As long as we are going this route, an extension is to go all the
way around the block, a la Joe Pass. In C:

Cmaj7, Fmaj7, Bbmaj7, Ebmaj7, Abmaj7, Dbmaj7, Cmaj7

I also use this sometimes on a I chord in the middle of a tune,
especially if you have just gotten to it. In "All The Things..."

|Fm7 |Bbm7 |Eb7 |Abmaj7 |Dbmaj7 |Dm7 G7|C,F,Bb,Eb|

|Ab,Db,C |Cm7 |Fm7 etc.

In the section where the C starts all the chords get one beat until
you get to the C again, which gets the last two beats of that measure.
Of course, I notated it as C,F etc. for space reasons, you would want to
put extensions on the the chords. I like maj7 or maj9, or an add 9,
C-D-G, F-G-C etc.
