yes, I recommend you purchase it. it is an excellent book and very
different book from his first book.

It has alot of info about things like chord substitutions, harmony, etc.
that are not in the first book.

the first book focussed on jazz piano voicings and this one more on
harmony.

of course there is some overlap.

I don't agree with everything in the book but Marks books are in my
opinion the best jazz texts I've seen.

I have this new book and have not really had a chance to read it
cover to cover but have noticed two areas so far that I
disagree with:

1) He tries to explain chromatic notes in terms of the "Bebop Scale" and I
really don't see things that way at all.

2) The minor plagal cadence is misrepresented as a form of deceptive
dominant cadence. Like in the beginning of "Just Friends". See the
editted digests for my explanation of what is really going on there.
