Hello Everyone:
This is in regard to using computer programs in order to
transcribe solos. SAW+ and SAW 6.4 both can do pitch change
and speed change in real time on Wintel machines up to +100%
or -50%. In my experience this is adequate to transcribe solos,
and is, in any case, no worse than using an open reel tape
recorder. I realize that the price of either of these programs
is more than any of the self-contained devices which have been
discussed here, however if you are doing digital audio on a PC,
the programs are very good. IQS (the manufacturer) has a web
page at: www.iqsoft.com where demo versions are available. I
have no ties to the company, I'm just a satisfied user. BTW,
the programs will run satisfactorily on as little as a 486 DX2 66.
