Brent, with all due respect these comments sound as though your
experience is limited about how things work in jazz group settings. I'm
sure that the majority of the time players aren't intentionally trying
to make us sound bad, but perhaps they are not as experienced or aware
as we would prefer. Trying to play louder or trying to make the other
person sound bad is not something I consider useful advice. On the
contrary, it is immature. Try working WITH their limitations, not
against them.
