A great tune with music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by
Betty Comden and Adolph Green. This is a truly amazing tune
and I'm at a total loss to explain why Bill Evans is the only one
that I've ever heard play it.

The sheet music for "Lucky to Be Me" can be found in "The Comden & Green
Songbook" by Warner Bros. PF9607.

This was from a not too sucessful broadway show called "On the Town".
Also from that show was the tune "Some Other Time" and "Lonely Town".
All three of these tunes were played by Bill.

Leonard Bernstein is often overlooked as one of the great songwriters.
Another great tune for jazz musicians that we wrote was "Somewhere"
from the show "West Side Story".

Anyway, the recording that turned me on to "Lucky to Be Me" was
was the second Bill Evans and Tony Bennett duo album.

They even play the verse though I'm not including changes for that
section because there isnt much to it however there are some problem areas
that are difficult to communicate without the score.

Anyway, for the main part of the tune in F I like:

F Ab7 | Gm7 C7sus,C7 | F,Db7 Cm7,F7 | Bb Em7,A7 |
Dm7 | G7 | Gm7/C | F C7 |
F Ab7 | Gm7 C7sus,C7 | F,Db7 Cm7,F7 | Bb Em7,A7 |
Dm7 | G7 | Gm7/C | F |
C | Dm7 | G7 | Bdim7,C Bbm7,Eb7 |
Ab | Bbm7 | Eb7sus, Eb7 | Am7,D7 Gm7,C7 |
F Ab7 | Gm7 C7sus,C7 | F,Db7 Cm7,F7 | Bb Em7,A7 |
Dm7 | G7 | Gm7/C | Gm7/C |
Gm7/C | F |

It's also possible to use in bar 3,4 though the Ab7 move
gets a little monotonous then:

Am7 Ab7 | Gm Em7,A7 | .
