I like that comment. I have a tendency to play in the middle of the
piano, sometimes playing chords in the right hand (with the melody on
top), and a single root in the left hand. When I had some lessons a while
back, one of the first things my teacher had me do was to raise the
melody an octave and try to make it "sing". This encouraged me to
embellish the melody, and also made me work on good left hand
accompaniment, something I still don't do very well.
