Here's an exercise over "Wave" using different major triads superimposed
over the traditional harmony. The idea is not just to think of them as
upper structures in a voicing, but to play simple triadic melody lines
using these imposed triads. What follows is an exercise. It is doubtful
that anyone would play an entire chorus using any one approach. (It is,
however, good to practice using one approach before moving on to another
approach and before trying to integrate several different approaches.)

1st A

|A/Dmaj7 |F#/A#o7 | G/Am7 |B/D7 |
|D/Gmaj7 |D/A#o7 |Eb/F#7 D/F#7 |G/B7 |
|F#/E7 |C/Bb F/A7 |C/Dm7 G7 |C/Dm7 G7 |

2nd A

|A/Dmaj7 |F#/A#o7 | G/Am7 |B/D7 |
|D/Gmaj7 |D/A#o7 |Eb/F#7 D/F#7 |G/B7 F/B7 |
|F#/E7 |C/Bb F/A7 |C/Dm7 G7 |C/Dm7 G7 |

B section

|F/Gm7 |Ab/C7 |G/Fmaj7 |C/Fmaj7 |
|Eb/Fm7 |G/Bb7 |D/Ebmaj7 |D/Em7b5 F/A7|

last A

|A/Dmaj7 |F#/A#o7 | G/Am7 |B/D7 |
|D/Gmaj7 |D/A#o7 |Eb/F#7 D/F#7 |G/B7 |
|F#/E7 |C/Bb F/A7 |C/Dm7 G7 |C/Dm7 G7 |
