appoggiatura - An accented ("leaning") nonharmonic note that resolves
stepwise to a harmonic note.

auxiliary notes - see accessory notes

accessory notes - notes one degree above or below the principle note of a
turn. The upper notes of a trill.

turn - an ornament consisting of four or five notes that make a turn around
a note.

trill - an ornament consisting of the rapid alternation of two adjacent
notes--the main note the the note a half or whole step above it.

cambiata - in counterpoint, a non-harmonic note inserted between a
dissonance and its resolution.
