Reed,
Um, perhaps you misunderstood me. I did say "tablature _together_
with standard notation". If this is a problem for you, then how
about notating the standard notation chords with either string #'s
or fret #'s (your choice) for the notes that can be fingered a
number of different ways? This is a common practice in standard
notation for guitars, as I'm sure you're aware.
Since you've played guitar, Reed, you're already aware that the first
choice a guitar player reading standard notation must make is where to
play the notated passage on the neck, a decision that keyboard players
don't have to make.
Since you presented your rootless chord voicings as a _guitar_ chord
system, rather than a keyboard system, asking for a position
indication would seem to be a reasonable thing to ask. As I've
mentioned, I can already read standard notation on a keyboard--"one
note, one key" makes that an easy proposition. I can also read
single note lines on the guitar. Mapping the chords to guitars is
somewhat more difficult because you usually have 4 choices of strings
for each note.
Any other guitar players out there have an opinion or am I needlessly
antagonizing Reed? :-)
