I would also suggest picking up any Horace Silver recording,
especially
from the "Song For My Father", "Blowin' the Blues Away", "Cape
Verdean
Blues" and "Horace-scope" period. His comping is incredible in this
regard (or in any regard...)

Karl,
I recently purchased a book entitled: Horace Silver The Art of Small
Combo Jazz Playing, Composing and Arranging written by Horace
Silver, he has some great information that will go along with the
tunes you have mentioned. Also included 7 transcribed combo
arrangments, such as: Song for My Father, Filthy McNasty, Nica's
Dream, Blowin' the Blues Away, Peace, The Tokyo Blues, Sister
Sadie. Not all of the piano comping is there but enough to get
someone going.
