I am introducing a new mailing list for those involved in the creation of jazz music or in the education of others. Students are welcome to participate also. There is no fee to participate

People may post questions and participate in discussion on subjects such as Jazz theory, reharmonization, arranging, composition, improvisation, manuscript preparation, teaching methods, etc.

As such this is essentially a technical forum and not a place for say discussing CD's or jazz history. This mailing list is also not a forum for advertising concerts, CD's or other commerical ventures.

To subscribe, send email to listserver@justjazz.com. The body of the message should be:

subscribe discussion-L

After processing your subscription you should recieve a welcome message giving you further instructions. Post by sending email to discussion-L@justjazz.com. The website www.justjazz.com will be evolving to better support this list. The instructions will also explain different ways that you can settup your account. For example, you may choose to only recieve a digest once a day of all the mail from that day. Similarly you may choose to recieve no mail. The "no mail" option is for those that want to post from time to time but would prefer to just visit the website to view the archived discussions. You cannot post to this list if you are not a member.

My name is Reed Kotler and I am a jazz composer, pianist, multi-instrumentalist, teacher, currently living in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I hope to hear from those interested.

There may be some technical glitches during the initial bringing up of this service so your patience will be greatly appreciated. Any problems with mail should be sent to postmaster@justjazz.com .

Thanks

Reed Kotler
